The Children’s Fund is committed to supporting non profits in the Upper Valley that serve children. In 2007, the Fund recommended a series of grants to help build the sustainable capacity of 16 local organizations to deliver services to children. This year’s grantees are:
The Upper Valley Smiles Program at Alice Peck Day Hospital
Creation of a new voucher program to enable uninsured children to receive regular dental care
The Center for School Success
Creation of a database to track Center for School Success clinic and professional development service outcomes
Child Care Center in Norwich
Funds to support the 2nd annual "Tikes on Trikes" fundraiser, and to convert to a Lifeline database system
The Children’s Literacy Foundation
Creation of the first-ever Children's Literacy Foundation DVD, which will help to visually convey the benefits of CLIF to potential funders and board members
COVER Home Repair
Training to help the COVER staff form an Education Task Force on the subject of poverty in the Upper Valley
David's House
Funding for a conversion to Raisers Edge fundraising software
The Family Place
Funds to support an earned income strategy: jewelry handmade by a collective of young mothers in the Families Learning Together program
The Upper Valley Haven
Support of a fundraising consultant for The Haven's capital campaign, which will build another shelter and provide additional endowment funds
High Horses Therapeutic Riding Program
Support for a new donor database to enhance High Horses fundraising capabilities
The Lebanon Opera House
Funds to support LOH's comprehensive administration improvement plan, which will build and strengthen their capacity to manage growth
The Montshire Museum of Science
Funds to explore the role of "tweens" (ages 8-12) as Montshire visitors,with the longterm goal of attracting more tweens as visitors, and helping to engage this age group in science education
Norwich Public Library
Support for a first annual signature fundraising event that will also increase the library's visibility among those who are not regular patrons
Upper Valley Music Center
Funds to add a preschool section to the UVMC's summer camp offerings; and to host an Arts Collaboration Planning Team that will develop recommendations for the 2008 summer camp and beyond
Upper Valley Trails Alliance
Funds for a marketing strategy to permanently sustain, and potentially expand, the Passport to Winter Fun program, which aims to institutionalize year-round outdoor activities for kids
Vermont Earth Institute
Funds to help VEI with a database upgrade; and with the hiring of a strategic planning consultant
VINS
Support for employee training to better harness the power of Raiser's Edge, new fundraising software for VINs. Funds to be used to pay training consultant.
The 2008 applications for funding will be available on June 1. Please submit proposals by September 1. Grants will be made by November 1.
