2008 Children's Fund Grant Recipients

The Children’s Fund is committed to supporting non profits in the Upper Valley that serve children. In 2008, the Fund recommended a series of grants to help build the sustainable capacity of 16 local organizations to deliver services to children. This year’s grantees are:

The Upper Valley Smiles Program at Alice Peck Day Hospital
Funds to continue 2007 effort to connect low income kids to dental care, and move toward long term sustainability of the project.

AVA Gallery
Funds for development of digital arts computer lab.

The Children’s Literacy Foundation
Funding for development travel and new computers.

The Center for School Success
Support for design of a training model that will help educators and healthcare professionals be more systematic and responsive to diverse learning needs of patients/students.

City Center Ballet
Fund for creation of a promotion video.

David's House
Funds for staff and volunteer development.

The Family Place
Funds to continue the production of Jewelrios, a successful earned income strategy.

The Montshire Museum of Science
Support for a strategic planning process with trustees and staff.

Child Care Center in Norwich
Support for the annual Tykes on Trikes fundraising event and for updating the phone system.

SAU 88, Lebanon, NH
Support for science educators in the region.

Upper Valley Land Trust
Support for a land conservation transaction to showcase UVLT's strategies and values to new constituencies.

Upper Valley Trails Alliance
Support for a new strategic planning process.

Valley Court Diversion Program
Support for a computer consultant to consolidate databases.

Vermont Foodbank
Support to create a promotional video for potential volunteers and funders

Vital Communities
Support to develop a series of brochures to highlight quests held at lead partner sites.

WISE of the Upper Valley
Support for a website redesign project, to enhance the accessibility and awareness of WISE services throughout the region.

The 2009 applications for funding will be available in September. Please submit proposals by November 1. Grants will be made by calendar year-end.
