CLiF has provided free and inspiring literacy programs and brand-new books to low-income, at-risk, and rural children up to age 12 in almost 85% of the communities in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Who We Serve

  • Children from low-income families
  • Children in shelters
  • Children in low-income housing
  • Children of prison inmates
  • Refugee children
  • Migrant children
  • Rural children
Grants Awarded:

2010 - CLiF has a mission to nurture a love of reading and writing among children throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. We will help CLiF donate 250 new children's books to Lamoille Community Food Share in Morrisville, VT. When families come to get food they can select a new book of their choice for each child. CLiF's Food Shelf program sponsors 20 food shelves each year. Since 1998, CLiF's 16 programs have served more than 100,000 children in nearly 400 communities throughout the Twin States.

2008 - Funding for development travel and new computers.

2006 - With a contribution from the Children’s Fund, the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) will donate more than a hundred new, hardcover children’s books to the Libbie A. Cass Memorial Library in nearby Springfield, NH (pop. 1,000). Librarian Steve Klein will select titles to fill specific gaps in his collection and receive the equivalent of more than one year’s worth of new books for his library. Later this fall, a CLiF presenter will deliver the new books to Springfield, perform an inspiring storytelling presentation for all local children, sign up any children who need library cards, and check out the new books on the spot!
